Structural Testing
AVT’s structural testing services can provide real value to many companies faced with severe competition who are under pressure to reduce costs without compromising efficiency or performance. Our capabilities include the on-site measurement of real data relating to the behaviour of structures or machines under in-service loadings and the subsequent analysis and assessment of the measured data.
Real data has real commercial value to product design and development engineers who can use it to optimise designs, reduce costs and weight whilst ensuring structural integrity is maintained. Understanding the behaviour of often complex machines or structures under in-service loading conditions allow fatigue life estimates to be calculated therefore reducing warranty liabilities. Real data is extremely valuable when designs are being optimise or new products are being developed.

Our capabilities range from installing strain gauges for stress measurement to monitoring displacement, acceleration, load, pressure and temperature all of which can be measured simultaneously under static and dynamic loading.
Finite Element Analysis
Finite element analysis (FEA) is an extremely effective way of assessing designs to eliminate possible design faults before prototypes are made or released for production. Up front computer simulation helps shorten lead-times to market and reduces design and development costs. Using FEA techniques appropriately increases the level of confidence in your designs and provide extremely useful information on where possible ‘hot spots’ might be which can be either designed out or validated by practical testing.
Correlating practical test data to FEA provides a platform for further design modifications or optimisation.
Heating & Aircon Testing
Taking temperature measurements or using thermal imaging cameras it is possible to effectively design and develop heating and ventilation systems maximising the performance of the system components.
Noise & Vibration
AVT has considerable experience in the measurement of noise and vibration. Our services range from performing general noise and vibration assessments to noise mapping to identify areas where noise transmission is greatest. We are also UKAS accredited to provide certification of compliance to most EC directives.
