Noise & Vibration Compliance Verification

Outdoor Noise Directive
Since 1979 manufacturers of certain types of equipment used outdoors have had to test their machines for noise emissions. The test requirements and noise limits have changed several times since then. The European Parliament published the noise directive 2000/14/EC in 2000 that has subsequently been amended to draw together several directives that had been in place before. 2000/14/EC has been implemented into UK National Law with the introduction of Statutory Instrument 2001/1701 and amendment, the regulations detail specific noise level requirements for 57 different types of machinery from a small garden trimmer up to very large Earth Moving machinery and also include diverse pieces of plant including Wheelie Bins and Glass Recycling Containers (Bottle Banks).

For manufacturers and importers of equipment to comply with these Regulations, they need to involve a Department of Trade & Industry appointed Notified Body in the Certification process, AVT hold such an appointment following an extensive scrutiny of both the Internal Quality System and demonstration of our understanding of various Noise Test Standards by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS).
